Edward P. Schmidt, 80, died Sept. 16, 2002. He was born in Northampton, Pa. to Berkhiser and Margaret Schmidt.
Mr. Schmidt was a World War II veteran. He served with the 314th F.A.Bn. in Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes. He received two Purple Hearts and four bronze battle stars.
He moved from Pennsylvania to Barkersfield, Calif., where he resided until 1988. He then moved to Payson where he resided until his death.
He loved people and was most happy when he was with family and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing with his son, Ed.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; son, Edward Schmidt and wife, Charlene; daughter, Bettyann McClure and husband, Michael; stepsons, Tim Krahn, J.R. Krahn and Michael Carroll; two granddaughters, Christine Lingar and husband, Hugh, and Melissa Hernandez and husband, Anthony; 15 stepgrandsons and two granddaughters; brother, Charles Schmidt; sisters, Mary Lagitch and Helen Prickler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Schmidt; brothers, John and Frank Schmidt; and sister, Teresa Lang.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
