Payson water customers could soon be paying more for their water, if the council's plans for a rate increase are approved Thursday night.
The proposed new rates will make the base, for up to 2,000 gallons of water used per month, $19.65; using from 2,001 to 5,000 gallons will cost an additional $2.65; up to 10,000 gallons, the cost will go up $3.50; using up to 20,000 gallons a month will cost an additional $4; and using more than 20,000 gallons will cost $5 above the base rate.
There also are hearings scheduled on a liquor license for Santa's List to serve beer at the June Bug Blues Festival; making an addition to the town code to fine those responsible for false alarms; amending the town code to make it possible to discontinue water services to stop or prevent serious public health hazards.
The town council meets at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 10 in the council chambers at town hall, 303 N. Beeline Highway. Call 474-5242 for more information.
