Florence Christine Simon, 88, of Payson, died April 5, 2003. She was born July 15, 1914 to Fred and Christine Lammers in Geyer, Ohio -- a small town named after her grandfather. She was from a family of seven boys and seven girls.

In 1932, her mother died. That same year, she married Bernard Meyers. They were blessed with two sons, Donald and Lee. They moved to Phoenix in 1944 for Bernard's health. He died in 1966. They had a grocery store in Phoenix for 11 years.

Their sons built a summer home in Thompson Draw for them, so Payson was always their second home.

On June 12, 1971, she married Chuck Simon and they lived in Phoenix until 1977 when they moved to Payson. Chuck died in 1997.

She was a charter member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Phoenix, and became a member of Mt. Cross Lutheran Church in Payson in 1977. She was very active in the church. She sang in the choir, served two terms on council, and served on Altar Guild and other committees for 17 years. She was a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs in Payson, a lifetime member of Payson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary since 1990, and retired from Motorola in 1973 after 23 years of accounting.

She is survived by sons, Lee Meyers of Payson, and Donald E. Meyers of Show Low; two sisters, Kathryn Sawmiller and Doris LeMar; two brothers, Calvin Lammers and Robert Lammers; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Simon was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held April 10, 2003 at Mt. Cross Lutheran Church in Payson, with graveside services at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Ariz.
