Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 10, and plan to attend the Payson Choral Society's spring concert, entitled "Tying Apples on the Lilac Tree." Musical direction is by Mary Ann Irvine, accompanied by Sarah Nordstrom Nelson. Performances will be at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the high school.
The theme of the concert is taken from one of the musical selections, which will be performed by the Chamber Singers, a small group from the Choral Society.
Kylea Donaldson will accept the Middle School $500 musical scholarship. The High School $1,000 scholarship winner is Rebekah Sandoval. Both girls will sing solos.
The concert will feature folk songs, spirituals, patriotic selections and old favorites from Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, and others. Special tributes will be paid to mothers in recognition of Mother's Day.
Tickets can be purchased from members, the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Payson Roundup, and library. Costs are $7 for adults, $3 for students 12-18, and free for children.
