Mayor Ken Murphy's two cases will be discussed in a pre-trial conference this week.
Deputy County Attorney Bryan Chambers said the pre-trial conference on both the disorderly conduct charge and the domestic violence incident will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 22 in Payson Justice Court.
Explaining the pre-trial conference, Chambers said, "It is a public hearing and an opportunity for the court to ask the attorneys the status of the cases. A plea agreement may be entered at that time or a they can ask to have a trial date set."
The disorderly conduct charge stems from an incident during rodeo weekend, Aug. 2002, when Murphy confronted Fire Marshal Jack Babb about the occupancy restrictions at the Ox Bow Saloon.
The domestic violence incident occurred in Nov. 2002 during an argument between Murphy and his fiance Julie Barcom at Murphy's home.
Immediately after the incident, Barcom said she had made a mistake when she called the police. She also said there was no violence involved.
