The 32 participants in the town of Payson-sponsored Monsoon 5K run/walk Aug. 2 at Green Valley Park toured the 3.1-mile course without the benefit of cool downpours that traditionally have fallen upon the event.

"Not a drop of rain," parks and recreation coordinator Michelle Beach said.

Although the temperature was a bit warmer than in past years, the annual run went off without a hitch.

Payson High School seniornd Longhorn cross country team member Tanner Morgan won the event with a time of 16:44. Among the female competitors, LeighAnn Haynes was first in 20:49.
