Airport manager Ted Anderson will be holding a series of workshops covering issues such as rates, charges, tie-down agreements and capital improvements.
"The workshops are primarily for airport users and if there are some citizens in the community who want to attend them, they are also welcomed," Anderson said.
Big improvements are in store for the airport, Anderson said. Bidding has started on the hangar construction and there is already a waiting list of people who want to rent them.
"You have to pay a deposit to be on the waiting list, so these are serious people who want to rent hangars," Anderson said. "There is a demand for the hangars."
People who tie-down aircraft outside will have to fill out an expanded agreement with the airport due to some problems with the current one-page form.
"Some of the issues are people parking in wrong areas, overnight parking without authorization, people being late on payments -- minor things that you need to get on paper," Anderson said.
The five-year Capital Improvement Program includes a realignment of Airport Road.
"Right now, the road goes through the middle of airport property and trying to develop is difficult," Anderson said. "It will realign the road to the south, along the ridge line so that the property will be available for future development."
The Airport Road realignment project will be funded mainly by a grant through the FAA and ADOT.
The rates and charges workshop will focus on revenue options for the airport.
"What we are trying to do is look at other revenues and expanding existing revenues at the airport," Anderson said. "We are looking at adding a landing fee of $5 for the commercial flights that come in. Right now they are paying nothing."
Anderson said this is just one of many ideas under consideration.
The informational workshops are free and open to the public. For more information, call (928) 472-4748.
