Residents who want to clear the air with Payson's building officials are invited to a meeting at the Inn of Payson at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 11.

This is the second Building Division Process Stakeholder Meeting, designed to improve relations between the public and the town's building department.

"Anybody who has any dealings at all with the building department is welcome," Building Division Manager Ray LaHaye said. "It's a customer service-oriented event. We are trying to provide better service for our customers and seek information from the public on how we operate and what modifications we need to make in the way we do business to help them in a better way."

LaHaye said the building department has been stepping up its public relations over the past few years.

"It was recommended by council that we seek out ways to better serve the public," LaHaye said. "We started sending people to customer service training. Council had been hearing grumblings of things we could do better, so we thought the best way to do that is to get with our customers at a forum outside the town and have a brainstorming session."

The town hired Lance Decker of LL Decker & Associates to facilitate what LaHaye describes as a round-table discussion.

"The facilitator will bring out issues that are common that we need to deal with and anything that can be of help to our customers," LaHaye said. "If there is any misinformation being spread, we can find out where it is coming from and how could we combat it."
