George J. Hoenshell, 65, died Dec. 9, 2003 in Scottsdale. He was born Nov. 29, 1938, to George and Louise Hoenshell in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. Hoenshell served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. From 1970 to 1986, he was employed as shop foreman for Goldman Gear and Machine Works in Tempe.
Due to an illness, he retired in 1993 from Jacobs Service in Payson.
Retirement enabled him to pursue his greatest passions, airplanes and his love of the outdoors. He completed his certification as an aircraft and powerplant mechanic from Mesa Community College. This led to a career as an aircraft mechanic on Alaska bush planes.
His sparkling eyes and gentle smile will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Gina; daughter, Cindi McKeon (Dennis); sons, Randy Hoenshell (Peggy), Ron Hoenshell (Beth) and Jeffrey Hoenshell (Jennifer); sisters, Jeannine Bleicher and Janet Butler; four grandchildren, Nick and Josh Hoenshell, and Shelby and Wil McKeon.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Scottsdale Family Church, 9400 E. Mountain View in Scottsdale.
