Payson, it is time for another election. After much thought and prayer, I have made the decision to run for mayor. If you are looking for a person who believes in accountability, truth, and takes responsibility seriously, I am your candidate. We have tried the professionals with their professional baggage and so-called experience, and it seems they have not fulfilled the citizens' wants and/or needs. It has been said, "He who stumbles over the same stone twice, deserves to break his shin."
My promise is to dedicate my time and attention to the needs of the Payson community. I plan to devote all of my focus to the people and what is best for our town. I have new ideas to bring to the table. Give me two years and I will prove that, as a business person, a hard-working person, and a trustworthy person, with God's help, I can, and will, make a difference.
You may be asking yourself, "What can she do to make a difference?" I believe in accountability, and I am accountable for my choices. This is what I want to bring to our community and our elected officials -- accountability. I also want you to know, first off, that I love my God, my family, and my country. I am a person with strong convictions, and I am learning to walk in them. I will bring you the facts of our community and the opportunity to express yourself without fear. I have made mistakes in the past, and I am not too proud to humble myself and learn from them.
It has been said that a man will not change until the pain of change is less than the pain of remaining the same. Where are we at, Payson? You have two choices, one for change, and one for the same. I am asking for your vote. Give me the opportunity to serve you. When change is the most difficult, it is the most necessary.
Diana Sexton, Payson
