Residents of Christopher Creek are proud of Leo Zanotto who lives here in Hunter Creek.
Leo is Bianca Malmin's brother and he and his team recently went to the Special Olympics 2003 Speed Skating area meet in Chandler.
The meet was held at Polar Ice where Leo took second place.
Tim Meeske took first place, as did Tony Saba.
Gary Bonn also took second place.
Robbie Gable took third place.
The team's coaches are Johnny and Jayne Gamboa.
These guys had to practice on roller blades because Payson doesn't have an ice rink.
For the past couple of months, they headed to Green Valley Park on roller blades and practiced for a couple of hours twice a week.
Leo only had one practice session on ice and was able to come home with second place.
That's pretty awesome, Leo.
The Special Olympics state competition will be held March 7 and March 8 in Tucson.
We wish Leo and his team the best of luck.
The first Christopher/Kohl's Fire District Fire Prevention and Public Safety Committee meeting will be held at 2 p.m., this Saturday at the Fire Hall.
Don't forget the Family Valentine fellowship at Christopher Creek Bible Fellowship Church at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, with Devotion on "Love" by Pastor Ed Hepworth. Bring a favorite dessert and a snack for games.
