I am all for an open campus. Schools are to teach young people responsibility and you can't do this with a closed campus. There will be a few who will abuse the privilege, but the majority should not be punished for the few. You teach responsibility by giving the students responsibility. If the incentive to get back to class on time is worth it, the students will take that responsibility. I think the idea of not taking final exams is worth being on time. There should be a little leeway because a responsible student can have car trouble.
I think the money spent on fences and security guards could better be spent on education for the young people.
If parents and schools teach responsibility from day one, we will have responsible students.
I think a closed campus will create a lot more problems than it will solve.
