A bomb threat at Rim Country Middle School put students outdoors for a large part of Monday morning.

The school contacted the Payson Police Department about the threat at 8:45 a.m., according to Lt. Don Engler.

He said when the police officers and Payson Fire Department arrived on the scene at 8:47 a.m., the evacuation was already in progress.

A search was made of the building, concluding at 10:31 a.m., with nothing suspicious found, Engler said.

He said the evacuation was very orderly and the students' behavior was good.

Engler said seven officers responded, along with three firefighters.

"The students and staff handled the situation extremely well and school has continued without incident," RCMS principal Frank Larby said in a notice he sent to parents about the incident.

The threat is still being investigated, he said.
