The Payson Roundup introduces it's newest reporter, Kelly Crowley.
Crowley has moved back to Payson after two years in Flagstaff.
Although she enjoyed Flagstaff, she considers Payson her home, especially since her entire family now resides here.
Crowley lived in the Rim country for four years before moving to northern Arizona, working as an advocate at the Time Out Shelter, a Realtor, and assisting her father, Donald Crowley, in starting his business, Arizona Rim Country Investment Management.
"When Mike Burkett left the Roundup to pursue other opportunities, we were left searching for a strong feature writer to fill the void," editor Jerry Thebado said. "I think Kelly is up to the task. She has the warmth and creativity to bring people's stories to life."
Crowley studied journalism at San Francisco State University, but her fluency in Spanish landed her a job in social services after graduation.
"I have spent most of the last several years in social services, in particular working with survivors of domestic violence," Crowley said.
Throughout that time, she still found opportunities to sharpen her writing skills.
Crowley is enthusiastic about returning to Payson and to journalism.
"I am grateful to be back in a town that I love and have a job I've always wanted," she said.
