It is time to be grateful for all that we have and all that we receive. So many organizations count on the generosity of this community. Here are just a few words of gratitude.
The students of Pine-Strawberry Elementary say thanks for the more than $52,000 that Arizona taxpayers have directed to the little school through the Credit for Kids program.
That money must be spent on extracurricular activities such as music, drama, sports, computers, field trips and science club, just to name a few.
Most of you have seen the benefits of this tax-credit at our concerts and performances in new instruments and new equipment. Eventually, you will also see a new baseball field that your helped to provide.
The staff and the board thank you as well.
Thanks for the grub
The P-S Food Pantry wants to send its thanks for all the support, money and food donations that you -- the residents and merchants of Pine-Strawberry -- have provided in 2002.
Fossil Creek Llama Ranch, Pine-Strawberry Builders Club and the Pine-Strawberry Student Council all held large canned food drives and businesses took in cans and money.
We don't have to have help from anywhere else, pantry volunteer Sharon Balentine said. So the 31 local families that were fed for the month of January -- were fed from our own cupboards. What is donated here stays right here.
If you know of a family in need or if volunteering for this worthwhile organization is on your resolution list, call Sharon at 476-2503 for more information.
The group meets at 1:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month at the Cultural Hall.
Thanks for being heroes
A total of 56 people stopped in at the blood drive at the Cultural Hall Tuesday.
By rolling up their sleeves and donating just one pint of blood, they may have saved as many as 168 lives.
Coordinator and Pine resident Sharon Weir says thanks to the 10 volunteers who baked cookies, brought juice, registered and called to remind folks.
Giving blood is a habit, a good habit to get into for the New Year.
United Blood Services will be back in April.
