Elderbuilders is a new program in Payson, under Gila Aging Services.
Volunteers are dedicated to providing supportive services to low-income, or homebound elders and disabled persons, in order to maintain independence, enhance dignity, and improve quality of life.
By volunteering to help, you help prevent one of the Rim country's residents from having to give up their home.
You can contribute by offering companionship with a visit or phone call, transportation for errands and doctor appointments, housekeeping, yard work, minor repairs, respite for care givers.
Volunteers do not offer medical or hands-on care.
Training includes on-going updates and information on successful aging techniques, health information and new community resources, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first aid. You will receive mileage reimbursement.
Elderbuilders pay for TB screening and MVD printout of driving record.
Give yourself the gift of volunteering. The rewards can be life changing. If aging is not your issue, it will be.
