Laura Meyocks out-dueled runner-up Shirley McLean for A flight first-place honors in the Payson Women's Golf Association weekly tournament showdown.
In the "most net pars or better" formatted clash, Meyocks chalked up 15 points. McLean finished with 14.
In B flight action, Glenda Cook's 10 points were good enough for first. Brenda Baker and Judy Neal, with nine each, tied for second.
In addition to Baker tying for second in the flight, she was the closest-to-the-pin winner on the 17th hole where she left her tee shot 25 feet 9 inches shy of the cup.
In C flight play, Wilma Smith and Joyce Ceyler tied for first place with 13 points each.
June 21, the PWGA members gathered for a "Mutt and Jeff" tournament in which scores were calculated on par 3 and 5 holes and one-half of the players handicap was deducted.
Turning in a 33, Marge Landra claimed first-place plaudits. Janice Burns and McLean tied for second with tallies of 34.5.
In B flight battles, Cook (29) was first, Dorothy Meek (30.5) came in second, and Joyce Goff (33) took third.
Ceyler and Smith tied for first in C flight with tallies of 33.
Meyocks pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money on the eighth hole where she finished 41 feet 2 inches away. With an effort of 18 feet, McLean was closest on the 18th hole.
At the Northern District Seniors Championship June 16 at Show Low Country Club, Kay Davis represented the PWGA well winning low-net honors in the field of 40 golfers. In the seniors division, Payson's Gerry Quisenberry was second.
