Judith Muhl Drury, 63, died July 3, 2003, at her home in Payson. She was born to Frank and Margaret Muhl May 29, 1940 in Bloomington, Ill.
She graduated from Central Illinois Methodist Hospital College of Nursing and married Stephen Alan Drury in St. Paul's Cathedral in Peoria, Ill. in June 1961. After her three daughters were grown, she began a 35-year career as a registered nurse specializing in obstetrics before retiring with her husband in Payson.
Mrs. Drury was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a caring nurse who celebrated and treasured every new life she helped to come into the world. She enjoyed golf, sailing, reading, sewing, bird watching, gardening, her dogs and cats, classical music and traveling the world with her husband.
She was a faithful and hardworking member of the Altar Guild in every Episcopal church of which she was a member and served as Directress of the Altar Guild at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Drury; her father, Frank H. Muhl and stepmother Litzi; her three daughters and their families; Lisa and John Jewett and granddaughters Elizabeth and Patricia of Austin, Texas, Lynn Drury Allen and husband, Platt and granddaughters Claire and Madelon of Fort Worth, Texas, Christina and Daniel Monti of Los Angeles, California and her brother, Dr. Zane Muhl and his wife Phyllis of La Grange, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
A memorial service was held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Payson Monday, July 7. A second memorial service was held July 9 at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston, Texas with interment that followed in the Cathedral's columbarium.
