Veteran golfer Marge Landra, who last week turned in a fourth-place finish in the prestigious President's Cup, continues to heat up play on the Payson Women's Golf Association tour.
In a "low net minus scores for holes 5, 11 and 17" formatted tournament July 8 at Payson Golf Course, Landra dominated the links, winning A flight laurels with a tally of 57.
Landra also shined on No. 14 where she nearly chalked up an ace. Her booming tee shot rolled to within four feet of the hole.
On the par 3, No. 14, Judy Neal pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money swatting to within 33 feet, 8 inches of the flag.
The hole must be Neal's favorite; in the President's Cup play, she earned closest-to-the-pin prize money with a lie that was only 6 inches short of the hole.
In B flight competition, Kay Davis took top honors with a 57. Dorothy Meek's card of 61 was good enough to win the C flight. In D flight, Joyce Ceyler's 50 earned her the gold medal.
The next highlight on the women's agenda is July 22 at PGC. Teams representing Beaver Creek, Verde Santa Fe, Prescott, Oak Creek and Sedona will visit for an interclub clash.
"We do those monthly. They are a lot of fun for our members," PWGA member Joyce Karnes said.
