Marvin Nitso, 70, died at his home in Tonto Basin July 18, 2003. He was born in Cullman, Ala., April 17, 1933.
Mr. Nitso moved to Arizona in 1961, where he became an ironworker. The family moved to Tonto Basin in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Army; was on the Tonto Basin School Board twice; and served on the Board of Trustees of the Tonto Basin Library.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Mr. Nitso also enjoyed bowling and playing chess.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four children, Larry and Jed Nitso, Linda Huffman and Deanna Watkins; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Brown.
An open house celebration of his life will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 at the Tonto Basin School Cafeteria.
