TONTO VILLAGE

As I looked out my living room window this past Tuesday at about 6 a.m., I was startled to see a gigantic and majestic bull elk with about 12 points looking almost straight at me! He went about his business of stripping my apple tree of its leaves with a nonchalant attitude, like he was saying, "I know you can't hurt me, it's not hunting season yet, so I will go right on eating and I will ignore you." He did just that, including chewing on the little bit of green grass that we have left. He proceeded to look around to see what he could eat next, so he leaped over my fence and headed for our neighbor's yard. They have apple trees and lilac bushes. He had a feast.

Tonto Village will be losing one of our long time residents in a few weeks. Jimmie Ashley will be moving to Mesa to be closer to her son, Jim. Jimmie does not know a stranger, She will become a friend right away, because of her outgoing ways with people. She will be missed by the whole village. If you would like to say farewell and good luck to her, a reception will be held in her honor today, Friday, at 6 p.m., at the LDS Chapel in Christopher Creek. I hope to see all of her friends there.

Another one of our villagers will also be leaving us at the end of the month. Jenny Wegner will be leaving us for a place closer to her job at the National Bank of Arizona. She will be going to Diamond Point off Dealer's Choice Road. She will be missed by the village. Jenny will be holding a gigantic yard sale at lot # 219 on Standage Road today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
