Jefferson "Jack" Z. Rogers, 88, a prominent Gila County cattle rancher, died July 19, 2003 in Phoenix. He was born June 28, 1915 in Collins, Miss., the eldest of six children born to Bertha and Burr Rogers.
A lifetime cattleman and farmer, he served with the U.S. Marines in World War II, where he suffered injuries and received the Purple Heart.
A loving husband for 55 years and a devoted father of two, he is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Jonathan Rogers and Martha Wheeler (Tim); granddaughters, Ruth Wold (Dusty) and Micah Wheeler.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at Payson Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St.
