Payson Center for Success High School, Payson Unified School District's only charter school, will begin its eighth year of operation July 31. PCS serves students ages 16-21 who have some high school credits, are serious about completing their education and can provide their own transportation. Students have the option of attending either a morning or afternoon session.

Currently, 54 students are enrolled to begin the 2003-04 school year in the computerized learning environment offered at 501 S. McLane Road.

PCS is excited to have Tina Crabdree return to the faculty as the science/social studies teacher. She will join Nancy Mullikin, English teacher and Dr. Tom Stultz, math and technology specialist on the PCS faculty. Rounding out the staff are Kerry Wright, Administrative Assistant and Monica Nitzsche, Principal.

Payson Center for Success, which is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, will continue with the self-paced, individualized learning format that has proven so successful over the past eight years and earned the school excellent ratings from the parents and students in surveys conducted by the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in a rich variety of community volunteer activities and will be required to participate in career exploration.

Students may apply for enrollment by completing an application, participating in an interview and signing a contract in which all school expectations are clearly outlined. Parents participate in enrollment proceedings and co-sign documents indicating agreement to be involved with their child's educational experience.

Self-motivation, determination and a strong sense of personal responsibility are the characteristics necessary to be successful in this innovative educational environment. Enrollment is limited. Please call Kerry Wright at 472-2011 for additional information.
