Pine Strawberry staff is excited about the beginning of another school year and have been working all summer in readiness for the new year.

Many K-5 students attended the three-week summer reading program to enhance their reading skills. Volunteers Jean Bean and Bette Kelly put in hundreds of hours this summer along with teachers Shelley Randall and Jane MacDonald working on the automation of the school library.

Thanks to the dedication of these individuals , students will be able to check books out using our automated computer system for the 2003-04 school year.

A team of volunteers has been working in collaboration on the development of a sports field located on the west side of the facility. Credit for Kids Tax dollars are funding the completion of the project. We hope for ground-breaking in late August.

Student Government service projects for the year also will focus on improving outdoor grounds and facilities. Primary grades 1-3 will continue with the after school Parents and Teachers for Student Success, PATSS Program, which focuses on reading and math skills. Grades 4-8 will continue with a similar Academic Program, the AP program.

We welcome Jane MacDonald, new librarian, and Arnold Stonebrink, Language Arts teacher and coach to our 2003-2004 instructional staff.

With such an outstanding Pine Strawberry School staff, I know our students will have a rewarding and successful school year.
