A Payson firefighter was injured in an early morning fire, which also destroyed a home last week.
The residence was at the corner of Murchison Circle and West Colt Drive in the Payson Ranchos area.
"We had it under control within 14 minutes," Chief Marty deMasi of the Payson Fire Department said.
However, while searching the residence, one of deMasi's men suffered a neck injury. The chief said it was only a minor injury, but would not identify the individual.
The fire was reported at 7:50 a.m., Saturday, May 31 by the home's occupant, Diane Dalgai, according to deMasi.
deMasi said Dalgai smelled smoke and went to a neighbor's house to call 911.
Engine 121 was the first unit on the scene, arriving six minutes after the call was received, he said.
A total of eight units and 19 firefighters responded to the incident, deMasi said, with the Diamond Star Fire District assisting the Payson Fire Department.
deMasi said the home was a total loss, with an estimated $135,000 in damage.
