Q: I just finished reading last Tuesday's Roundup. How in the world does the Beaver Valley Fire Department justify letting kids squirt their hoses all over the place at a time when the Rim country is facing an extreme water shortage? How about an open house that provides water conservation and fire prevention tips instead of encouraging wasting water?
A: "We squirted about 50 gallons of water and we actually had to work on one of the pumps that had to be drained anyway," Beaver Valley Fire Chief Duke Arrington said. "We checked with the water company man and he gave us the OK. We have pamphlets and other handouts available with water conservation and fire prevention tips. We know the importance of conserving water the way things have been the last couple of years."
Q: There was an article in the Roundup recently about tennis clinics. Is there a number I can call for more information, and who's going to run them?
A: The clinics will be offered in June through Payson Parks and Recreation. Diane Jackson, a licensed teaching professional will run them. For more information call Parks at 474-5242, ext. 7, or Jackson at 474-0583.
Call 474-5251, ext. 147, to reach Roundup's What's Up? line. Leave your question on the answering machine and we'll try to find the answer.
