Ray Hill, 45, a longtime Rim country resident and owner of Hill and Sons Construction, is in critical condition following an accident on Four Peaks Road.
A passerby saw Hill's vehicle at about 5 a.m. Monday, June 16. It had gone off a 60-foot cliff, rolling several times, ejecting Hill, according to Sgt. Paul Chagolla of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Chagolla said the accident is still being investigated. No further details about what happened were available at press time.
Hill had to be airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare where he was in critical condition, Chagolla said.
"He is in intensive care with severe head trauma," said Jackie Hill, a family member.
Hill is in a coma and on a respirator, she said.
The doctors are not making any prognosis at this time.
"They are going to wait for the swelling to go down and see what kind of brain activity there is," she said.
