Dr. David Olson Lloyd, 80, a longtime resident of Strawberry and Mesa, died June 24, 2003 in Mesa. He was born July 4, 1922 in Astoria, Ore.
Dr. Lloyd was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served several missions and held many offices in the church. He served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. Dr. Lloyd established and administered the guidance and counseling program for the Mesa Public School System, where he remained for 31 years. He retired as an assistant superintendent in 1983. He was a charter member of the Mesa Sertoma Club. He was a life member of the Utah Sons of the Pioneers, and worked with the Boy Scouts for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Glenda S.; sons, John D. Lloyd of Orem, Utah, Arthur E. Lloyd of Payson, Dennis Kay Lloyd and Linden J. Lloyd, both of Mesa; daughters, Janet Lisonbee of Kirkland, Ohio and Bonnie Roberts of Mesa; 38 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at Bunker Mortuary in Mesa. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30 at the Maricopa Stake Center, 611 Stewart in Mesa. Internment will follow at the Mesa City Cemetery.
