It took only seconds for Rim country angler Jon Elliott to realize he had hooked a trophy sized large mouth bass.
"He made a run for the surface and I could see how big he was," Elliott said. "I told my wife, ‘Wow, this is a big one. You better get the net.'"
After about a five-minute battle with the lunker, Elliott boated the fish that tipped the scales at 12 pounds, 2 ounces and was 26 inches long.
"It's the biggest bass I've ever caught, by far," Elliott said.
He used a jig to catch the fish near Jackrabbit Island Feb. 22.
The huge bass has been taken to a taxidermist and will be mounted for display in the Elliott home.
