Even though Fat Tuesday has come and gone, the Strawberry Elite's version of Mardi Gras had to be rescheduled because of the snow.
Everyone is invited to come celebrate from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 23, at the Black Bear Steakhouse in Strawberry.
If you bought tickets for the March 2 event, it is good for the 23. If not, tickets are $10 per person from any Strawberry Elite member or at the door. Ticket includes the standard Cajun fare of jambalaya, red beans and rice, crawfish, etouffee and chicken mamou, all cooked by Elite members.
Pine-Strawberry Historical Society Elects Board Members
Elected this past week to the Pine-Strawberry Historical Society Board of Directors were incumbent and president, Melvin Van Vorst, incumbent and treasurer Betty Jan Murphy and Nancy Bollard. These folks serve a three-year term and join the six other members currently serving their board terms; vice president Robert Fuller, secretary Louis Aslow, members, Kris Lovetro, Mary Hunt, Jim Beal and Marla Diepstraten.
In April, the society will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.
If you would like to help them bring in the 25th year with pizzazz and style, call Melvin Van Vorst at 476-4791.
And of course they are always looking for new members. Memberships are $20 per year for an individual, $35 for a business, and $50 for a sustaining membership. A $200 one-time payment makes you a lifetime member and a one-time payment of $1,000 qualifies you as a patron. Checks can be made payable to PSAHS and mailed to: P.O. Box 564, Pine, AZ 85544
No Easter Egg Hunt
The bark beetle strikes again. The Rim Country Kiwanis have made the decision to cancel this year's annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Pine Trailhead. The Kiwanis members are concerned over the potentially hazardous weakened and dead trees that are leaning over the hunt areas.
