Rim country soccer was well represented on The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona Small School team when it was chosen Sunday morning.
Former Lady Longhorn standout Trista Carlton was on the girls all-star team, and Amy Wilcox was tapped honorable mention.
Travis Sanders and Kyle Hubbard represented the Longhorns on the boys small schools team, and Mark Hillegas and Andrew Karlowski were recipients of honorable mentions.
For Carlton, a senior, the honor represents the conclusion of a standout soccer campaign in which she helped lead the Lady Longhorns to a co-region championship and to the state tournament semifinals.
Wilcox, soccer coach Randy Wilcox's daughter, is a junior forward who will be counted on to lead the Lady Longhorns into the Grand Canyon region when Payson High moves to the Class 4A ranks next season. She was the team's leading scorer last season.
For the Longhorn boys state co-champion soccer team, Sanders and Hubbard played key roles in the team putting together the best record in school history.
A senior, Sanders played in mid-field. Hubbard, a junior defender, is expected to be one of the veteran leaders next season when soccer will be played in the winter season rather than the fall as it has been in the past.
Most of last season, Hillegas held down the goalkeeper slot for Payson and was one of the standouts in the team's tie with Sedona for the state championship.
Karlowski was a hard-nosed key to Payson's defense that turned in rock-solid efforts all season.
