Harriett W. Churchill, 90, died March 11, 2003 in Payson. She was born in Turlock, Calif. and moved to Phoenix after her marriage in 1935.
Mrs. Churchill was active in the Phoenix community with many organizations and was named Phoenix Woman of the Year in 1952.
She also received the Gulick award from National Camp Fire Girls.
She is survived by her children, Gloria E. Wilson of Scottsdale, Gordon S. Churchill (Judy) of San Diego, and Clinton R. Churchill (Suzy) of Kailua, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; niece, Judy Kruppenbach of San Jose, Calif.; and nephew, John Thomas of Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. N. Churchill, Jr.; sister, Louella Thomas; and brother, Eugene Wolfe.
She was an extraordinary woman who lived her life giving to others. Her grace and undaunted courage amazed all who knew her; and to know her was to love her.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, March 25 in Kailua, Hawaii, and another will be held at a later date in Payson.
