Woman Killed Monday On Highway 260


A Fountain Hills woman died in a collision about six miles east of Christopher Creek Monday.

Gwen Schwab, 54, was east bound on Highway 260 at approximately 2 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle on the bridge near milepost 280.1.

The vehicle traveled into the westbound lane and was hit by a pickup truck.

A spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety said there was snow and ice on the bridge and it was snowing at the time of the accident.

The truck was driven by William Mills, 36, of Florence. Mills and his passenger, Dustin Howard, 21, were treated for abrasions and contusions and released from the Payson Regional Medical Center.

Schwab was pronounced dead at PRMC from massive trauma.
