Brian Buckner

Brian Buckner, the son of Carol and Tom Buckner, is a 22-year-old Specialist 4 with the U.S. Army. He is currently deployed to Camp Doha, Kuwait with the 11th Signal Brigade out of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

His dad and stepmother wanted to share this message: "Brian, this is your second great sacrifice for our country, once before as a Peace Keeper in Kosovo and now serving your country in the war to liberate the Iraqi people. We love and miss you. Godspeed, and come home safe. -- Pops & Carol."

Colin Cory

Colin John Cory, 21, proudly serves with the U.S. Air Force.

Colin is in Special Operations and is stationed in Florida, but he has now been deployed.

Colin graduated from Payson High School in 2002 and joined the Air Force in March 2001.

He is the son of Trudy and Lorne Cory of Payson, who write, "Colin has asked for our thoughts and prayers for all of those serving in these dangerous and uncertain times. We are very proud of our son and are anxiously waiting for his safe return."

Andrew Garrett

Sgt. Andrew Garrett serves with the U.S. Marines as a Recon Ranger in the Commander Task Unit CTU-55.4.3.

The stepson of Cindy Kamphaus, Garrett is stationed on the USS Gunston Hall in the Persian Gulf, conducting deep/shallow water mine clearing operations with dolphins.

Kamphaus' message to Garrett: " You have always made me proud. Semper Fie! -- Love, Cindy"

William Gurney

U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. William C. Gurney, the son of Charles Gurney of Pine, is the Senior Enlisted Advisor with the Special United States Liaison Advisor-Korea at Yongsan Garrison, Seoul, South Korea.

His father writes, "Our prayers are with you and all our military personnel."

Banners available to military families

Military service banners that will be given to families of current service members to hang in their front windows or on their front doors. The banners can be picked up between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Payson Public Library. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Recipients are asked to furnish the name, branch of service and location of their family member. Forms are available in the Wal-Mart customer service department, and also will be available at the library Thursday evening.
