I found out about this case from a link from one of the online communities that I subscribe to.
As a long time animal advocate and volunteer here in Phoenix for Animal Control, believe me, I have dealt with animals in all kinds of situations.
I am angry as I type this.
First and foremost, any person who is deemed responsible for an animal's death or injury should be held responsible for that act.
I sincerely hope that this officer is dealt with accordingly and not protected by his/her status.
I also happen to be a proud guardian of a Great Dane as well as three other dogs and a cat who all came to me in very special ways. Personally, I have never met an aggressive Dane even when out on a rescue case.
I strongly feel the officer should be terminated for this act.
