Residents of the Rim country interested in learning about law enforcement work or getting the training to join the reserves or become a full-time officer should attend a special meeting at the Payson campus of Gila Community College. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the main college conference room.
The Reserve Police Academy is a joint endeavor of the college, Gila County Sheriff's Department and the Payson Police Department, Police Lt. Don Engler said.
It will meet two nights a week and Saturdays and result in full police certification, Engler said.
The training is extensive and for those who successfully complete the program and become a reserve officer, training is ongoing.
For more information call Engler at 474-5242.
