Jim Paxon, the man most associated with reports about the Rodeo-Chediski Fire last summer, will return to the Rim country as a guest speaker next month.
Paxon, now a retired United States Forest Service Information Officer, is living in Truth or Consequences, N.M.
He will speak at a special dinner Tuesday, June 17, at Tiny's Family Restaurant, formerly Mario's.
Paxon is remembered by residents of the area for his compassion, and his comprehensive daily fire reports issued during last summer's Rodeo-Chediski Fire.
His program June 17 is a slide lecture, entitled "Living with Fire," and includes descriptive commentary.
Paxon's visit is sponsored by the Mogollon Republican Women's Club as a service to the community.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a no-host bar, followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m., and Paxon's presentation at 7 p.m.
The dinner menu is lemon chicken, green beans and almonds, rice pilaf, salad, bread, cheesecake and a soft drink. Tickets are $20 each, including dinner and the lecture and can be obtained at the Rim Country Chamber of Commerce, the Payson Roundup, and the Swiss Beauty Connection.
Seating is limited. For more information, call Barbara Brewer at 978-6634.
