Jane Tripodi, 70, died in Payson, Ariz., Oct. 7, 2003. She was born Dec. 1, 1932 in Oroville, Calif.
Ms. Tripodi graduated from the University of California at Berkeley.
She worked for the state of California for many years in various positions. When she retired in 1994, she had worked for 15 years in the Civil Rights Investigation sector.
Ms. Tripodi moved to Payson in 1996. She became a volunteer with the Literacy Program, helping people to read and comprehend what they read.
Later she joined the chamber of commerce as a volunteer.
After the new library was completed, she became a volunteer at the Book Store, and a member of the Friends of the Library.
In January 2000, Ms. Tripodi joined the Casa Program as a volunteer and was selected as Casa of the Year for northern Gila County in 2003.
She loved to travel, and spent much time over the years visiting foreign countries as well as most of the United States. She had a positive outlook on life and could find something good in almost every situation. She was a compassionate and caring person.
Ms. Tripodi has touched many lives here in Payson in a stand-back and unassuming way.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
