Q: Why did Christopher Creek get a loop/bypass before Payson?

A: Myron Robison, resident engineer for the Payson office of ADOT construction, said many years ago both Highways 87 and 260 were put into the National Highway System. In 1990 a corridor study was conducted to identify possible realignments that would improve travel times and safety on the roads. The study identified a means to realign Highway 260 through Kohl's Ranch and Christopher Creek, which the community supported. The public input and right of way acquisition process went very smoothly, so the realignment project proceeded with expediency.
