Youngsters Invited To Play Basketball

This letter is to the parents of the second, third and fourth graders who enjoy playing basketball.

The Tonto Apache Tribe is sponsoring the Howard Burdette, Sr. Little Hoopers Tournament on Nov. 21 through 23, 2003. This tournament is in memory of my brother, who loved playing basketball from the day he could first toss a ball. He has coached his nephews, sons and daughter in the Town Youth basketball from the mid-80s to mid-90s. Basketball was his game and, because of that, we would like to bring the youth of this town and surrounding towns together to enjoy the game.

We always ask what's to do for the youth? This is your chance to get a team of 10 players and have fun. This will also get you ready for the upcoming youth basketball season -- maybe even recruit your team for this year.

There is a minimal fee for the tournament, but if you can't afford this, just give the recreation director Randy Pryor a call and he can make arrangements. It's a guarantee this will be fun for the youth, and even the adults. There is no charge to come and watch the games and cheer your son or daughter while they have fun.

Parents, let's show our youth we are behind them in things they like and enjoy doing. If there are youth out there who want to play and aren't on a team, we suggest the parents call Randy Pryor at 474-7093 or 970-0580. Coaches are also needed.

For the Howard Burdette, Sr. family, Vivian L. Burdette
