Wilbur Alvin Wright, 72, of Payson, died Oct. 10 in Phoenix. He was born July 14, 1931 in Covington, Va.

Mr. Wright served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952.

He retired from Honeywell "Airesearch" Manufacturing in 1991, where he began as a machinist and retired as a project manager.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons in and around Arizona.

Mr. Wright was a member of University Baptist Church, and he was an active member of the Rim Country Garrett Retiree Club. He was loved by many people, and you couldn't help but smile when you thought of him. He loved his family and friends dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Bell (Stone) Wright of Payson; daughter, Sheri Anita of Gilbert; sons, David Alvin of Chandler, Marshall Glenn and wife, Carol, of Avondale, and Robert Lee and wife, Rhea, of Avondale; sisters, Marion Stone of Covington, Va., Libby of Mesa, and Alice of Payson; brother, Charles and wife, Judy, of Mesa; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur, Sr. and Christine Hepler Wright.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, and from noon on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday, with burial in Mountain Meadows Memorial Park in Round Valley.
