Chapman Burglary Under Investigation

A cleaning crew working at Chapman Auto Center called police when they noticed that one of the vehicles parked in the back lot had been broken into, Sunday night.

"They called police at 8:56 p.m. when the cleaning crew noticed there was a motor home there that was open and there was property out of the motor home," Payson Police Lt. Don Engler said.

When police arrived, they noticed that several cars in the lot had been broken into.

"We are still trying to determine what's missing, if anything, but there were numerous vehicles that were entered there," Engler said. "They were vehicles there to have service work done on them."

Payson Police Det. Steve Johnson was called in to investigate.

Engler said that officers recovered several items the burglars took from the cars and were preparing to take over the fence when they were scared off.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Johnson at (928) 474-5177.
