Q: There have been coyotes around Rumsey Park, Trailwood and Woodhill lately. What can be done to get rid of them and are they a danger to small pets and small children?
A: Payson Police Department Animal Control Officer Don Tanner said he is aware of the problem and is working on it.
He also has been setting traps for the past several weeks and while no coyotes have been caught, three dogs were captured in a three-day period, one known to been running with coyotes.
"I am also working with Game and Fish on a solution. Coyotes are very cautious and smart, so I don't think we will actually be able to trap any."
As for concerns about small children and pets, he said make sure children know not to approach any wild animals or strays and if pets are fed outside, bring the food in at night.
