A mock terrorist attack held Thursday at Gila Community college involved a device that simulated the release of deadly sarin gas.
The drill was designed to evaluate the preparedness of area emergency response teams including Payson and Diamond Star fire departments, Payson Police, LifeStar Ambulance, Gila County amateur radio emergency services, Payson Regional Medical Center and other services.
Acting as victims were volunteers from Tonto Rim Search and Rescue.

"The biggest problem we faced was lack of manpower -- that's something we just don't have," said Payson Fire Chief Marty deMasi.
