Hearts in Payson are as big as all outdoors in the Rim country, and to prove it, a group of people have put together a special effort to help the family of leukemia victim Justin Richardson.

The Justin Richardson Benefit memorabilia auction is at noon, Saturday, Sept. 6 at The Ox Bow.

The boy was first diagnosed with the disease at the age of 3 and has just recently had a bone marrow transplant.

While he is doing well, his family must now deal with the financial burden of the procedure and its accompanying costs.

Organized by Greig Perrin, the auction will feature memorabilia and autographs from both music and sports stars. Among those contributing items for the auction are the Arizona Diamondbacks, who gave an autographed baseball, the Phoenix Cardinals and the Baltimore Orioles, Evenescence, KISS, Drowning Pool, Tim McGraw, Wynonna, Naomi Judd, Nelly, 50 Cent, Creed, Audioslave, Stone Temple Pilots, 3 Doors Down, Oak Ridge Boys, Bryan Adams, Enrique Iglesias, Dave Matthews, Godsmack, Cradle of Filth.

The auction is open to all ages and will feature food from the Mazatzal Casino.

Making the event possible were The Ox Bow Saloon, which is donating the space; Postnet Business Services, which donated the shipping destination for the memorabilia; Wal-Mart, which is donating the frames for the autographs and miscellaneous staging needs; the New Breed Band and Payson Music Center, which is providing the music equipment for the High Country Jam Session following the auction; and the men and women who became the "Justin Crew" -- Beverly, Dave and the staff at The Ox Bow; Tina and Greig Perrin; Stan Keith; Clay Sopeland; Jim White; Jason Keith; and Chris Olsen.
