Bob Lloyd, 68, one of the Payson pilgrims to the Harley Davidson 100th Birthday Party, was killed Thursday in an accident in Yellowstone National Park on the group's return trip.
"I'm glad he was doing what he loved," said Lloyd's sister, Nancy Clarkson of Payson. She said the Payson group had just stopped and taken a picture at the entrance of the park and everyone was enjoying themselves.
Clarkson said they were on a winding road and he went slightly over the center line on a curve and clipped a car, which sent his bike into a ditch. She said he lost his helmet and was killed on impact.
"His daughters have decided to spread his ashes there. He fell in love with the place as soon as he saw it," Clarkson said.
In addition to Clarkson, Lloyd is survived by his three daughters, Linda Lloyd of Scottsdale, Lisa Taylor of Maryland, and Connie Chapin of Minnesota; five grandchildren, with a sixth due soon; and a niece and nephew.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Raeann.
Lloyd was retired from Motorola and had lived in Payson for about 12 years, Clarkson said.
Formal memorial services will be held sometime in the future.
