Karl Russell Knotts, 87, of Payson died Sept. 9, 2003. He was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Huntsville, Ohio.
Mr. Knotts was a heroic survivor of World War II's most notable battles. He earned two purple hearts, four bronze stars and various campaign medals.
Karl with a "K", as he was so fondly referred to, chose to live life with a fervor -- laughing and challenging life, as well as loving his devoted wife, Virginia, for 54 years.
Always armed with a ready smile and a joke, he was a pleasure to all who knew him.
He is survived by a wealth of loved ones, both family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1992.
A military and masonic service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
