Sale Of Ranch Is Sickening

I moved to Deer Creek five years ago from the Valley. I had lived in north Scottsdale since 1974. I have always loved Payson and the history behind it.

I am sickened over the sale of the Bar-T-Bar Ranch. You have written many articles on the history of this whole area, but nothing has been in the paper to let people know that the Bar-T-Bar is going in the wrong direction. Commercial property with a hotel, restaurant, mini mart and luxury homes? What would Chilson say? I know, he would have said progress is great for the area. But what about water rights, etc.

What are we to do down here in Deer Creek. The hearing is Oct. 7 at 10:25 a.m. in Globe.

Please help the confused people of Deer Creek come to some conclusions on this one. Thanks for your help.

Editor's note: The hearing, before the Gila County Board of Supervisors, is to rezone the 50-acre property, located three miles south of Rye on Highway 87. The plan for the property includes site built homes, a 7-acre hotel site, small store and gift shop. Rezoning is just the first step in a series needed to make the project a reality.
