Lee Wilson Ware, 85, died March 15, 2004, in Phoenix. He was born Dec. 17, 1918.

The seventh of eight children, he was the son of Harry Ebenezer Ware and Stella May Ware.

He grew up in Springdale, Ark., was the Vaughn High School valedictorian (only one graduated), and went on to receive undergraduate degrees from Hendrix College and John Brown University, and a graduate degree from Duke University.

Mr. Ware and his wife, Frances, moved to California, then later moved to Tucson. He drove a route truck for the Frito Company. Along with his family, he moved to Phoenix and took a sales position with Libby.

He and Frances started Fran's Brokerage, which evolved into Leisure of Arizona -- a gourmet foods brokerage business.

Mr. Ware lived in Strawberry for many years, then moved to Prescott.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; sister, Louise Sumner; sons, Mark and Robert; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many supportive relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances.

At his request, no services were held. A memorial celebration will be observed by his family at a future date.
