The woes of the Longhorn boys soccer team didn't stop Grand Canyon region coaches from naming a pair of PHS players to the all-region team.
In a voting of coaches at the conclusion of the past season in which Payson stumbled to a 4-15 record, Trevor LaHaye and Patrick Karlowski were honored by the coaches.
According to coach Roger Wholly, LaHaye was named to the Grand Canyon second team and Karlowski chosen honorable mention.
LaHaye, a senior, played forward for the Longhorns and finished as the team's leading scorer.
"Trevor really stepped up this year to become the team leader," Wholly said. "He was the player who would pull the others up when they were getting down on themselves."
The coach praised Karlowski as a well-rounded athlete who could fill in wherever he was needed.
"I felt comfortable putting him anywhere on the field," Wholly said.
Karlowski, a sophomore, will return to the Horn fold next year as one of the team leaders.
